Hearing Aids and Social Distancing

Hearing Aids and Social DistancingHearing Aids and Social Distancing

Hearing well is even more important during the era of Social Distancing.

The World Health Organization recommends that we stay connected with each other while in isolation via telephone, e-mail, social media, or video calls. Staying at home can bring a sense of isolation from the lack of face-to-face communication. A way to overcome this is by tele-contacting friends and family over the phone or by making video calls on social media.

Hearing Aids and Bluetooth

For phone calls and video-chatting, newer hearing aids such as Phonak Marvel, Oticon OPN or Starkey Livio hearing aids enable true hands-free streaming for any Bluetooth-enabled phones. Audible phone notifications can also be set to play through the hearing aids. Streaming means that the audio is sent directly to your hearing aids and blocks out any background noise.

Hearing Aid Accessories

While practicing social distancing, it may become harder to hear loved ones during a conversation. With distance, background noise can be more prevalent. With distance, surrounding environmental noises can be overcome if wireless microphone systems are used.

Using a remote microphone, such as Remote Mic or Roger Microphone in these situations can be a huge help. They send the speaker’s voice directly into your hearing aids to help the user hear better in noisy situations.

Watching TV With Hearing Aids

Watching television with loved ones or by yourself can also be a challenge, particularly when there is background noise in the room.

There are hearing aid accessories that have been developed to help overcome this issue so that you can truly enjoy watching your favourite shows again. We have an array of different accessories, such as the TV Connector, that can help you to hear in the most difficult listening situations in your home.
